Q. How do we start?
A. No matter where you are, Concord Carlisle, Boston's North Shore we can handle your project. We design and build the entire structure. There does not have to be an architect involved. So the first step is a working design which we can provide.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. We can give you a set of specs and a price very quickly. You pay a basic design fee which is credited to the cost of the project if you continue. That costs about a dollar per square foot. When you evaluate on a fair comparison, totally designed, our incredible custom woodwork, we are a great bargain!
Q. How long does it take to build a home?
A. In New England, 6-8 months. We take about 4-6 weeks to come up with a design that can go to contract with. Six to eight weeks later we are off. We own our own site work company even, M and R Site Development LLC! (that would be Mike and Ron Harkins) Most people have a basic idea of something they have seen that we have done or a picture, book or magazine shot that they like. Once you have decided on the elevation, the rest is easy.
Q. What about a house frame?
A. We generally purchase our frames from Canada, preassembled. IE the components are precut. Generally speaking it is a stick frame home. These components, manufactured in a factory setting are more precise than a site cut home.
Q. Foundation?
A. Check this site out. My own personal home utilizes this cutting edge system. It is perfectly square and level. It has no footings but sits on crushed stone! It does not give you that dank typical basement feel and is perfect for finishing. When you build with us we always think out of the box.
